Take-Home Reading

I just noticed that the information for the Take-Home Reading Program did not fit, and was hard to read. Here is the information again:

We will be starting our Take-Home Reading Program. The students will select books on Monday to work with for the week. They are expected to read the book nightly, with a parent or someone older, that would be able to assist them when they experience any difficulties.

Monday: Take a look at the cover of the book, and discuss what you think the book will be about. Next, take a picture walk. Finally, read the book. Read it for enjoyment.
Tuesday: What kind of book is this: fiction or non-fictions? What is one thing that tells you the type of book that it is? Read the book finding clues that tell you the type of book that it is.
Wednesday: Today we are going to focus on characters. Who is the main character of your book? Does your book have characters? Read the book thinking about the characters. How are they similar or different than you?
Thursday: Read the book for the final time. After you’ve read the book, complete the Reading Sheet found in the Take-Home Reading duo-tang. Don’t forget to fill in the information about the book, including the title of the book. The duo-tangs will be collected on Friday.
Friday: The Take-Home Reading duo-tang will be collected every Friday. I will be reading with a few students each week. We will discuss the book they have read. Everything will begin again on Mondays with a new book.

Please sign the Reading Log nightly to show that your child has done their reading. Merci!

Happy Reading!
