Next Week's Assignments

With the possibility of there being a strike, and school closures next week, I have given the students some of their assignments that I would have given them on Monday. Their reading for next week's Lecture à la maison was given today. The students were told that they do not need to do this over the weekend, but should start on Monday. A Literary Pumpkin Project was also sent home. The due date will be October 31st.

Literary Pumpkin Assignment

To celebrate the beginning of fall and our love of reading, we will be creating Literary Pumpkins. The pumpkins are going to represent their favourite characters, in their favourite books. The project is easiest to do if students choose a main character, as there is a lot of information provided about the character. The decoration of the pumpkins will take place at home.

There will also be an oral component to the assignment. The students will write a paragraph about their characters, to be presented orally to the class. The paragraph should talk  about the character they chose. Who is it? What book is he/she from? Why did they pick this character? What are some of the character’s traits? Please practice their oral presentation of their pumpkins at home. Things to focus on: projection of their voice, and speaking clearly.

Due Date: Thursday, October 31, 2019

*The pumpkins can be dropped off early, the week of October 28th. The pumpkins must be brought home/picked up no later than Monday, November 4, 2019.
