Scholastic Book Orders

The students were given Scholastic book orders earlier this month. If you would like to order any books you may do so 2 different ways. The first way is to place your order online. The second way would be to send in the order form to school with your child, with the correct amount of money owing. I will place any orders that are sent to school.

This month the Scholastic Book Orders will be due on Monday, September 30th.

                                                           

Science and New Math Unit

We are currently learning about the Water Cycle in Science class. We have been discussing how the Water Cycle works. They have seen that because it is a cycle, there is no begin or end. We have compared the sun heating the water in lakes and ocean, to cooking pasta on the stove. I will be introducing the words: l'évaporation, la condensation, and la précipitation next week. They are working on trying to explain the cycle in French.

We have begun our Number Sense Math unit. So far, they have learned about building numbers using a Ten-Frame, reading and writing numbers in word form, and addition strategies. We will be adding and subtracting number without regrouping this unit.

A Message from Good Shepard Parish

The Rite of Commitment for those who are celebrating Reconciliation & First Communion at Good Shepherd Parish this year will take place at Good Shepherd Parish during all Masses this weekend September 28/29.

This Week

Tuesday- The students will have their Math Unit Test tomorrow. The focus on the test will be Sorting and Geometric Repeating Patterns.

Wednesday- It is Franco-ontarien Day. We are celebrating our French-Ontarian culture. The students are encouraged to wear GREEN and WHITE. Also, meet the teacher night is from 5:30-7:00.

Friday- We are having our Terry Fox Walk today. The students are encouraged to wear RED and WHITE. We are asking for a toonie donation from the students to be donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. The walk will begin at 2:15pm.

PD Day

Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday.

Math Test and Book Orders

We are coming to the end of our Math unit on Pattern. Today we walked around the school trying to find different patterns. We will be ending this unit on Tuesday, September 24, with a math test to see what they have learned about patterns.
