Happy Easter!

I hope that everyone had a restful Easter weekend. Your children have been studying the significant events that occurred during Holy Week. We ended the week by making Easter wreaths that summarize the week.

In Social Studies we have been talking about different holidays and celebrations that are celebrated in Canada. We are also learning the difference between a celebration and a tradition. To end this unit, the students are preparing presentations on different celebrations from around the world. I'm exciting to see what they produce, their last assignments turned out beautifully. The projects must be done in French. They are due: Friday, April 8, 2016

We have recently begun our measurement unit in Math. The students are learning how to use a ruler, and other non-standard unit to measure various things. Some still need practice measuring.  This is something that can be practised at home. Try measuring different object in the kitchen, or maybe books and toys in their bedrooms.

Please be advised that there is a PD Day on Friday, April 1, 2016. Enjoy another long weekend!

March News

We are having a lot of fun in Social Studies learning about the difference between traditions and celebrations. We have celebrated the Chinese New Year with all of the grade 2 students. We learned about some of the traditions, and also the history of the day. We ended our day with a mini parade in the school. We are now learning about other celebrations that Canadians celebrate. Their will be a project. Details of the project will go home after March break.

We are coming to the end of our Numeracy unit in Math. The students have learned to add and subtract with regrouping. They have also learned how to use a place-value mat to help them regroup. There will be a Math test on Friday.
