Grade 2- Country Project

Country Project

The students have chosen a country to research. They will need to find the following information:
  • Which continent is the country in?
  • What is the climate of the country?
  • What do their houses look like?
  • What is their currency?
  • What language do they speak in their country?
  • Are there any special celebrations in the country?

Water Festival

Tomorrow we will be participating in the Water Festival. I have talked wit the students about what they should bring. They should dress appropriately (they may get wet). Wear sunscreen and a hat. Bring a lunch, and lots of water to drink.

Math Test/Quiz, and Petite Pauline

The students will be completing their current math unit. The grade 2 students will have a math test on Thursday, focusing on multiplication, division and fractions. The grade 3 students will have a short quiz on Thursday as well to show what they know about fractions.

The students will also be performing their Petite Pauline plays, for me, on Friday afternoon. Please ensure that they know their parts, and help them to try to speak using expression.

On Thursday, we will be outside for the day. Please ensure that the students are prepared tp get wet. Also, sunscreen and a hat are recommended. I do not have any parent volunteers for my class. If you are free, and would enjoy spending the day with us, please let me know. All permission forms need to be submitted by tomorrow. Merci!

Water Festival Field Trip

The students will be participating in a field trip on Wednesday, May 29th to the Water Festival. There will be no charge for this trip. Please have the permission forms signed and returned to the school no later than Tuesday, May 28th.

EQAO

I just wanted to congratulate the grade 3 students on the completion of their last day of EQAO testing. We are so proud of you!!

The grade 3 students will begin their EQAO testing tomorrow, May 22-24. Please ensure that they get lots of rest this week, and eat a nice little breakfast in the morning.

Kleenex

Due to your generosity t the beginning of the year, we have had Kleenex to help with the stuffy noses in our classroom. Unfortunately, We only have one box left. We would greatly appreciate any Kleenex donations to get us through the rest of the year. Thanks in advance to anyone able to contribute some tissue!

Superhero Day and Math Test

Tomorrow we will be celebrating Superhero Day.The students are asked for a $2.00 donation in exchange to dress like their favourite superheroes. No masks are permitted.

Grade 3 Saint Project

The students have been learning about saints, and how they teach us to live like Jesus. The grade 3 students will be doing a research project on a saint of their choice and present it to the class. The following questions must be answered:



Saint Project

Choose a saint. Answer the following questions about the saint of your choice, and present them to the class. Find a picture of your saint to show during the presentation.

  • Who is the saint? Where did he or she live?
  • What are four or five interesting facts about the saint’s life?
  • How did the saint live like Jesus?
  • Why is the saint a good model for us?
  • What can I do to live my life like this saint?
  • What can this saint teach us about being part of a community?
  • Who do I know that lives like this saint?

Muffins for Mom- Correction

All moms are invited for the Muffins for Mom event on Friday, May 10th. A form with details will be sent home today with the youngest and only.

Play

The students will begin working on a new AIM play today, called Petite Pauline. The students will be given two grades on this assignment: oral communication and drama. They will be bringing the script home nightly to practice. They are expected to memorize their lines.

Catholic Education Week

Next week we will be celebrating Catholic Education Week. The theme this year is Living As Joyful Disciples. There will be activities every day next week, that will help us celebrate.

Monday- Rooted in Faith: We will be doing Jump Rope For Heart activities that have helped us raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Tuesday-Living in Community: We will be celebrating Mass at 10:00 at Good Shepard Parish. Wednesday- Doing Justice and Creating Hope: It will be Superhero Day. Students are asked to donate $2.00, to dress like a superhero. The funds raised will be donated to the Fight Like Mason Foundation.
Thursday- Journeying Together in Faith: We will be having a Track Meet for the grade 2-5 students. That night will be Math Night from 5:00-6:00.
Friday-Sharing in Good News: The JK/SK students will be having Muffins for Mom @ 9:00 in the Gym.

We are excited to participate in these fun activities next week to celebrate Catholic education.
