This Week

We had a wonderful time on our field trip Monday. Thank you to the parents who volunteered to chaperone.

Just a reminder that the Grade 3 students will be participating in their second Swim to Survive lesson tomorrow. Be be sure to back their swim suits and towels.

Finally, I wanted to wish you all a safe and Happy Halloween!!

Colasanti Field Trip on Monday

Just a reminder of our field trip to Colasanti's on Monday. Please check the weather, and be sure to dress your children appropriately, as some of the activities will take place outside. Don't forget to pack them a lunch. I look forward to spending this fun day with your children!

Halloween Reminders

Just a few reminders for Halloween...The students are encouraged to dress in orange and black, but costumes are not allowed. Also, please do not send any candy to school with your child to be distributed to their classmates. We are not allowed to bring outside food into the school because of allergies. If you would like to get the students a little something, please get non-food items. Thank you!

Literary Pumpkins

Yesterday, the students were given their Literary Pumpkin assignment. They will be creating a pumpkin based on their favourite book character. They are not to carve the pumpkin, but rather decorate it with paints, markers, yarn, and any other materials that you can find. They will be presenting their pumpkins to the class on October 30-November 1, 2018. They will be presenting their pumpkins in French. I would suggest practicing at home beforehand. I look forward to seeing your creative designs.
                                         
      

Field Trip Forms

Two field trip forms were sent out yesterday. The grade 2 students only received the one for the field trip to Colasanti's that will take place on Monday, October 29,2018. The grade 3 students received the Colasanti's field trip form, as well as a permission form to participate in Swim to Survive. Please read over both field trip packages, and return them as soon as possible.
                                              

Math

We have been working on our Number Sense unit in Math class. The grade 2 students have been working on addition and subtraction, without regrouping. They have also been learning to represent numbers in different ways, using ten-frames and ten sticks. These tools help them to be able to add and subtract, with a visual.

                                                            

The grade 3 students have been learning to model numbers, 2-digit and 3-digit, using Base Ten Blocks. They have also learned how they can be useful when adding and subtracting numbers.

Picture Day

Fire Prevention Week

We were lucky to have the Tecumseh Fire Department come and visit us yesterday to begin Fire Prevention Week. The students were able to learn valuable lessons about fire safety through demonstrations, and a short video. The Tecumseh Fire Department will be having an open house this week from Monday-Thursday from 6-8pm. They will also be giving rides in the fire truck.

                                                   

Mass and Fire Prevention

There is a mass tomorrow to celebrate Thanksgiving at 10:00 in the gym. Please feel free to join us.
