Just a Reminder
I know that during the Christmas season people like to spread cheer to others with little treats. Food is not allowed to come into the school to share with other students. If you would like to bring in a little something for the students, please be sure it is not food. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

Math Unit Coming to a End
We are coming to the end of our current math unit. I am pleased to say that the students have a grasp on how to regroup! They will be having a math test next week. They will begin their next unit upon returning from Christmas break.
We are continuing to collect canned beans and peas for Christmas baskets for families in need. Thank you so much to those that have already donated! The students set a goal of 40 cans. We are more than half-way there, with 26 cans.

November
I can't believe we are in the middle of November already. We have been working very hard in our class. We have been learning how to tell time, and how to count money. This unit is coming to an end, and we are writing our test. We are learning about different animals in Science class. Ask your children the types of animals we have learned, and see if they can name some of the characteristics for that type of animal. We are also learning how to organize our ideas into paragraphs. The child that can organize their ideas into paragraphs the best, will receive the Panther Pulitzer at the end of the month.

Panther Lottery forms are being sent home today for our school fundraiser. Please fill out the bottom of the form, and return to school by Friday. The tickets will be sent home next week.

Happy Halloween
We are very fortunate to be able to dress up tomorrow. Please remember to not put face paint on your children. Also, masks are not permitted. Due to allergies, food is not permitted in the school as treats for students. If you wish to hand out little gifts to the students, please ensure that they are not food items. Thanks for cooperation in this matter.

Practicing time
We have been learning to tell time in Math class. We have learned to tell time by the hour, the half-hour, and 15 minute intervals. It would be beneficial to practice telling time at home. Maybe you could write a digital time and have them represent it using a clock, or draw a clock and have them write it digitally.

Measurement
In Math, we have begun our unit on measurement. In this unit, we will be exploring time, money, and temperature. Today, we were discussing time, and we were exploring how long a minute actually is. We will be continuing this discussion tomorrow, and way in which to keep time without using a watch/clock.

Sorting and Patterns
We have begun our Sorting and Patterning unit in Math. The children have been learning ways to sort different objects. Some of the vocabulary we have learned is: attributes, sorting rules, and sorting circles. Maybe you can practice sorting at home. Pick random objects from around the house, and sort them into groups. Have your child(ren) tell you the sorting rule.

Estimating is Fun!!
In Math, we have been working on how to estimate different objects, then grouping them to make counting easier. The students really enjoy doing this. Maybe they can practice this at home! Find different groups of objects that can be estimated and grouped.
They will be finishing their first unit of math next week. They will be completing a culminating activity to wrap it up.

Welcome Back!
Salut!
I hope that everyone had a fun and safe summer. I am excited to have been able to return to St. Anne's again this year. I'm also very excited that I have the opportunity to work with and get to know your children.
Your children will be receiving their agendas tonight. They will be using their agendas daily to keep track of assignments and special occasions. Please check your child's agenda each night and sign it. Also, if you have any notes for the office or for me, they can be left in the agenda.
We have some students with severe allergies in our school. We are asking that no food be brought into the school to celebrate special occasions. Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
If you have any concerns please feel free to contact me at the school.
Merci!
